A Gemini Wedding: Cheers to Fleur & Jesse

This past June, my Libran sister and her Virgoan husband got hitched under the sign of Gemini. Nuptual Astrologer, April Kent, chose the most auspicious date for them to exchange vows. This is what she recod:

“Friday, June 10, 2011, 6:20 pm MDT, Canon City, CO: A very nice chart with the Moon in Libra (past its constricting conjunction with Saturn), the sign of marriage, approaching harmonious aspects to the Sun/Mercury in Gemini; a lovely, chatty, curious, lively energy. Venus is also in Gemini, and at 6:20 it’s in the 7th house along with the Sun and Mercury …. nice. Venus is sextile Uranus (to keep things lively and spontaneous) and trine Saturn (financial prudence and stability), but also approaching a quincunx with Pluto in the 2nd… taken together, this could spell some financial adaptations/compromises that need to be made. Mars is a little close to the descendant at this hour and might indicate a certain amount of bickering (though you’ll tend to have long fuses; physical exercise could provide a healthy channel for this energy). Overall, this is a nice chart for communication, socializing, reaching harmonious compromises, and enjoying new experiences. Window of opportunity: Say your vows between 6:08 p.m. (Mars leaves the 7th house) and 6:30 p.m. (after which the last few – unpleasant – degrees of Taurus are on the 7th house cusp).”

Since my sister was now planning her ceremony around Gemini’s celestial influence, she of course had to include that theme in her reception. Intoxicated Zodiac Marriage Sign favors accomplished this perfectly, and they are photographed here beautifully.

Inside the shot glass there are dried lavender petals to signify Gemini’s influence and dried Rose petals to symbolize love, both of which can be infused into sugar syrup and then made into a cocktail at home!

A Welcome Drink was served to greet guests that was ruled by sign of Gemini: a simple Lavender Martini. Lavender is ruled by Mercury and is hence a Gemini.

Some old bottles were then painted and labelled with the Gemini Marriage Sign Reading and used as props to spiff up the Marriage Sign concept so guests could understand it more easily.

Here i am, showing off my Lavender Martini! Fleur and Jesse are shown here exchanging Gemini vows… Ironically, Fleur means flower in French.

Overall the reception was a total hit, with no small thanks to the smashing Welcome Cocktail, and the unique favors which enthused the guests to no end… Not to mention the dogs!

william & kate: a match made in taurus

taurus-marriagewilliam is a crab and kate a goat. talk about a match made in heaven! goat and crab are two of the most compatible signs in the zodiac. they happen to be complimentary on the zodiac wheel, and as a capricorn myself i will tell anyone my favorite sign is cancer. on top of that, elementally speaking, water always goes well with earth, making a pleasant mud bath so to speak. as if that weren’t enough auspicious traits, the wedding is taking place on a friday. perfect! venus, the goddess of love rules that day of the week so the couple is off to a good start from the get-go. additionally, the young royal couple is exchanging vows while the sun occupies the constellation of taurus: A TAURUS MARRIAGE! royal-weddingboth goat and crab will innately understand and appreciate earth sign, taurus, and the energy of taurus will be infused into their union, affecting to some extent their personalities as well. meaning, trend-bucking kate might get a bit more conservative down the road because taurus is a traditional sign, especially when combined with kate’s native capricorn (all ready a rather conservative sign.) crab william will feel right at home both with this earthly wife and marriage sign. water signs are so sensitive that they need a shoulder to lean on and now he’ll have two! this union will need every ounce of stability it can—what with the end of what privacy they’ve know, job stress that will be off the charts, not too mention the paparazzi, and dealing with the family is… ouch. good luck dear kate, my prayers are with you and so is taurus’ loving, stable, beautiful energy. cheers to the royal couple! taurus-recipe

astro shrink: water, water everywhere…

kangentiniThe Environmental Protection Agency warned that drinking water pollution is one of the top environmental threats to our health. Contaminants are routinely measured in municipal drinking water including lead, cadmium, mercury, metals, pesticides, fertilizers, and chlorine. These can enter your body not only by drinking the water, but through bathing in it.

Our blood is 90% water and our muscle tissue is 75% water. We need to drink clean water to deliver nutrients and oxygen, discharge metabolic wastes, and clear out toxins. Our ultimate goal is to relieve the body from daily environmental stressors, but what do we do when
fluoride waterone of these stressors is our own water? Although water from our faucets and city water supplies is ordinarily safe from bacteria and harmful organisms, undesirable contaminants in the water are an ongoing concern.

One of these contaminants is fluoride. As an additive to public water supplies, fluoride has been banned as unsafe for public health in many countries, yet it is added to many municipal water supplies in the United States with assurances that it is a “proven health measure.” Michael Barbee, author of Politically Incorrect Nutrition says, “Fluoride improperly mineralizes many tissues, including bones, joints, and teeth. It also disarms the immune system and calcifies the pineal gland.”

Despite the urgings of dentists, fluoride may not be necessary to protect teeth. Tooth decay appears to result from a poor diet and lack of basic hygiene. You can read more about this theory at http://www.westonaprice.org/notes-from-yesteryear/186-price-and-fluoride.html. And if you’re interested in how fluoride became so widespread, read The Fluoride Deception, written by Christopher Bryson, which details how public opinion has been molded to believe fluoridation is a good thing. See a review of Bryson’s book at http://www.westonaprice.org/book-reviews/thumbs-up/380-fluoride-deception.html.

(photo) toxic-tap-waterFluoride and other contaminants aside, we still must find a way to have healthy drinking water. Coffee, sodas, and other commercial drinks don’t adequately hydrate the body like pure water does. Lack of water in the body weakens immunity and increases susceptibility to disease because water actually protects cells from diseases and viruses. When your cells lack water, it is easier for foreign invaders to enter them. Adequate water holds the cells in a structure that allows for optimal functioning.

In regard to healthy water, Mu Shik Jhon, Ph.D., author of The Water Puzzle and The Hexagonal Key tells us, “What was once only theory is being confirmed. Water has a specific structure which varies with environmental conditions.” He tells us that water around cancer cells is less structured than water around normal cells. His research has shown that cancer has a common feature: the destruction of the water structure at a cellular level. Dr. Mu Shik Jhon says when hexagonal structure of water near cells is compromised, cells are more vulnerable to (photo) love waterexternal stimuli. Cells surrounded by less structured water are weaker and more prone to malfunction and genetic mutation. “The failure to consider water’s impact during disease may be a glaring oversight,” he says, and goes on to say that water is especially critical for cancer patients, protecting cells from environmental damage. Through this research, some have suggested the possibility of returning cancer cells to a normal state by improving the water environment at a cellular level.

The road to good health involves being adequately hydrated with healthy water. Bottled water is not optimal unless you know the source is pure and it comes in glass, as plastic is an environmental pollutant that can leach toxic chemicals into your water.

What to do? Filter your own drinking, shower, and bath water with high quality filters. Look for filters for your drinking water that eliminate contaminants found in your municipal water. To learn more about the tap water in your community, see the Drinking Water website for the United States Environmental Protection Agency at http://water.epa.gov/drink/index.cfm.

GWEN’S THOUGHTS: i love ASTRO SHRINK’S post this month, because i’m all about the water! after studying kangen water for 6 months now, the ground breaking research on water i have found has left me flabbergasted. forget about food. forget about nutrients (for now.) forget about everything except straightening out your water supply. a dependable source of high quality water needs to be your number one priority. then worry about the other stuff. every single disease in the world comes from a single trigger: dehydration in the body. lack of absorption. problem solved. it’s almost too simple. change your water, change your life. i have been going on about the alkalinity of kangen water, which is great at resetting the ph of our body to a normal state by reducing the acid. 2_wash_car (photo) but, equally important is the molecular structure of the kangen water molecule. it is highly structured, and i’m told that this can be witnessed this by washing your car. the combination of soapy water on the waxed car will bead up, but kangen water will create sheets. this illustrates the water’s connective properties, which enables kangen water to move through our the body 3 dimensionally. this is akin to spirits walking through the walls of a house, the same way the spirit of this water moves through the walls our our cells. kangen water does not use the traditional pathways, or veins for lack of a better word, that regular water uses. ASTRO SHRINK advises everyone to seek out the best possible water for themselves and their loved ones, (photo) marriage-sign-giftand i can promise you all that you need look no farther than your local kangen water distributor. this is the rolls royce of water. the cream of the crop. don’t put a price tag on your health. get kangen! if you can’t find one, email gwen@intoxicatedzodiac.com. and here’s a great idea, if you’re getting married, or having a Bat Mitzvah, birthday, ect… but a kangen machine on your gift list, because kangen is the china ; ) hear, hear, a toast to raising the vibration of our planet through water…

give the gift life: GIVE WATER. watch the movie trailer HERE.

wedding cocktail book, the bubbly bride, features gwen’s original cocktail

bubbly-bridethe liquid muse herself asked if moi if i’d care to contribute an original cocktail to her latest book, THE BUBBLY BRIDE. perhaps you’ve heard of PREGGATINIS by natalie bovis-nelson? that was her first book. both are good reads with useful material to boot.

with wedding season right around the corner, you’d be wise to stock up on copies of THE BUBBLY BRIDE. for $16.95, every star struck lover deserves a tipple how-to as cute as this one! cheers to the happy couple…

studies show that inhaling lavender impairs our mental processing ability. in other words, it’s relaxing… good for a wedding? chill out bridezilla! it’s also kind of funny that lavender belongs to virgo, the virgin ; ) white wedding with lavender cocktails–how perfect!

CHILL PILL:
1 oz lavender bud-infused vodka
1 oz lavender bud syrup
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
lavender water spray or rinse
lavender soda

combine lavender bud-infused vodka, lavender bud syrup, lemon juice and shake over ice. prepare champagne flute with rinse of lavender water, or mist inside of glass with lavender water spray. strain into lavender-misted / lavender-rinsed flute and top with fair amount of lavender soda. stir briefly and serve. garnish with sprig of lavender or purple flower if available.

lavender vodka: infuse 750 ml vodka with 3 cups dried lavender buds (available at health food stores or online) allow to sit for several days and strain.

lavender syrup: bring to boil 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup dried lavender buds and remove from heat. allow to infuse for 1/2 hour and strain. add splash vodka to act as preservative and store in fridge. note that using white sugar over raw will give a prettier pink color, while the latter will make for a darker hue.

lavender water: available at health food stores or online. for greater control and speed, i prefer misting over rinsing of glass. transfer lavender water into small spray bottle that is dark in color and store in fridge.

celestial-themed weddings

ARIELLE & RUSSEL: A TAURUS WEDDING
this spring i designed a marriage sign shot glass candle for arielle & russell. their nuptuals were performed on may 2nd, making their sacred union a taurus.

the bride and groom’s sign have don’t have much to do with their marriage sign, all though their marriage sign can impact their “couple personality.” for example, my sister is a reserved, shrewd, sensitive cancer. she got married under the sign of leo and now she’s throwing parties. normally this would have been out of character for her, but not only is there a new husband in her new life, but a new celestial influence… she just gave her hubby a set of MARRIAGE SIGN SHOT GLASSES for their tenth anniversary!

wed-book.pngfor more on marriage sign astrology check out my nuptual readings, or buy STAR GUIDE TO WEDDINGS by april elliott kent, or, visit IT’S ABOUT TIMING to calculate the most auspicious time for you and your partner to get hitched. whatever you do, think twice about saying i do on saturday. the day of saturday is ruled by saturn, the harsh planet of constriction.

ariell-shot.jpg

arielle was really into the fact that intoxicated zodiac donates a portion of their proceeds to animal-related charity–AND–that we are also environmentally friendly. soy wax candle, recycled paper, the whole nine…. let’s raise our glasses to arielle and russell… cheers!

arielle-russell2.jpg

TAURUS MARRIAGE SIGN READING PRINTED ON GLASS:
“A Taurus Marriage: Arielle & Russell
When a wedding is held Apr 20-May 20, that marriage belongs to Taurus.
Thus, this union is permanently imbued with these Taurean traits:
SENSUALITY GRATIFICATION LUXURY RELIABILITY STRENGTH
BULLISH DETERMINATION… A toast to the stellar couple… Cheers!”

SHELLY & BRENDAN: A LEO MARRIAGE
this august, shelly & brendan realized their leo dream-wedding: “navigating by the stars.” see pics below, but first let me explain the concept of marriage sign astrology: everything with a beginning has a sign. hence, the day on which you exchange vows determines your marriage’s sign.
below we have the leo marriage sign shot glass i designed for shelly & brendan. we actually printed leo’s celestial cocktail recipe, rose geranium gimlet, on the back instead of a reading.
shot.jpg

we decorated the cake with constellations… one of which was leo. notice the boat cake topper…
cake2.jpg

MRS. SHELLY DIY, used compasses instead of traditional place cards. she glued the name and table of each guest inside the compass and instructed guests to take them home.
compasses.jpg

the seas were explored by starlight and compass…
compass.jpg

a nautical globe to set the mood in cocktail hour…
globe.jpg

instead of a lame old guest book, we found a colossal manuscript from taschen with ancient maps of the heavens and seas printed inside. every page of this incredible book was either beautiful, informative or outright awesome. guests signed their names to which ever page they saw fit. (the feather pen was from michaels.)

guest-book.jpg

image010.jpgon the deck, we set up a telescope. this was a HUGE hit with the kids, and i highly recommend it for any wedding just to keep ‘em busy. (forgot to snap a pic, so photo credit here)

MRS. SHELLY DIY created the three-sided menu stands. on one side she printed the constellation. on the other side she listed the history of the discovery of the constellation. and on the third side (sorry i forgot to snap a pic again), she listed the menu. all the while pasting glittery, sparkly stars across the whole thing. how leo! did i mention shelly’s a leo?

a toast to this stellar couple’s future indeed! cheers shelly & brendan…

Intoxicated Zodiac’s trade show bar booth

bar-booth.jpg

so we had our first trade show here at IZ. woah… that is a big step! this is where you spend a zillion dollars and hopefully make another few in return. overall, we had a successful first show at the NYIGF… JP and I took orders from both brides and stores, spoke to product reps interested in carrying our line, stores interested in purchasing our products, magazine interested in featuring IZ, and a whole bunch of nice peeps. the best part of any trade show is the last day when you can buy up all the other vendor’s samples at wholesale cost. shopaholic here…! the other vendors were so incredibly nice… how weird is this? the one store in rhineback, new york, that carries the Intoxicated Zodiac line ended up across the aisle from us. what a small world! check out the charming southern belle, chari’s, eclectic and fun store, MERRIEWEATHER’S. this effervescent woman makes some of the best lotion i have ever slathered myself in and you your skin has not lived until it has had chari’s lavender body butter… everyone loved loved loved our booth. visitors would just halt in their tracks, as their mouth dropped in awe, to gaze upon our oh-so-creative booth. ALL thanks to my uber-talented friend, ANNIE KLOER, for building it. she is a set designer/pastel artist/trompe l’oeil painter/farmer/certifiable nut! if you would like to hire her to construct a dream booth for your brand, just shoot me an email and i will slip you her digits. she is worth her weight in gold. last but not least, thanks to margarite for letting us borrow the bar stools from her restaurant, LA PALAPA, in nyc. (some of the most authentic mexican food you will ever taste, this side of the rio grande). and the icing on this huge cake is…. yes, would you believe, we’ve even gotten some press from the show all ready in the GIFTS & ACCESSORIES MAG! check it out here…
